Aetna has announced the sale of its Medicare Part D business to WellCare Health in preparation for its acquisition by CVS Health. The sale will be effective as of December 31st, though Aetna will retain the business’s financial risk and provide administrative services through 2019. Analysts see the move as an attempt by Aetna to ward off some of the criticism the CVS acquisition has brought in recent months.
