Allscripts recently announced Avenel, its new electronic health record (EHR), at HIMSS18. Avenel is designed to provide a shared patient record that works like an app and utilizes machine learning to improve documentation and decision making. The new EHR is built on Microsoft Azure and is cloud-based. Jim Hewitt, EVP of Solutions Development at Allscripts, said, “This new solution is not simply an iteration of legacy systems. It is an entirely new approach to the EHR. Our objective with Avenel is to get the technology out of the way, so clinicians can focus on the patient.”
