At the Becker’s Hospital Review 4th Annual Health IT + Revenue Cycle Conference last month, Wallace Adamson, MD, staff vice president of Anthem’s telehealth service LiveHealth Online, Calvin Heller, director of telehealth at Des Moines, Ia.-based UnityPoint Health, and Carey Officer, operational vice president of telemedicine at Jacksonville, Fla.-based Nemours Children’s Health System spoke on a panel about the future of telehealth.
Each of the panelists spoke to their organizations’ cost savings achieved through implementation of telehealth technologies. “It’s cost-saving, and time-saving, for patients and families,” said Officer. But on top of that, they noted that making the most out of innovation requires thinking ahead. “Being able to tie [telehealth] to a larger strategic goal is critical to success,” said Heller.
