Specialists at Geisinger Health System have reduced time to diagnosis for intracranial hemorrhages by 96% by training computers to detect internal bleeding in patient scans.
“This is not about replacing doctors with machines,” said Aalpen Patel, M.D. “This is about the smart use of machine learning technology to aid medical providers in delivering better and faster care, especially in these areas where time is critical.” Geisinger is now applying machine learning to standard clinical workflow based on its success.
