The Health Care Cost Institute (HCCI) recently published a blog post analyzing the growth in both emergency room charges and costs from 2009 to 2016. The analysis revealed that over the seven year period, ER charges grew faster than prices at every single severity level, with the average charge for an ER visit rising from $600 to $1,322. The average price for a visit, however, rose from $452 to $894.
