The Johns Hopkins University Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare announced it has developed an algorithm that calculates a probability “no show score” for patients, allowing physicians to intervene accordingly. The algorithm then allows clinicians to make appointments more available for those in need of timely care. “Other institutions are working on similar models. But what makes our model unique is that we are tailoring this model to each department,” said programmer analyst Aria Smith. “Each department has unique needs and a unique patient population, and we can customize the model to best fit those needs.”
