New York City-based Mount Sinai Hospital is in the process of beta testing Lab100, a combined research lab and clinic intended to bring virtual reality, 3D imaging, and other innovative technologies to routine physicals.

The program involves a series of tests and scans covering traditional aspects of a check-up such as heart rate and white blood cell count all the way to dexterity, balance and cognition. The eventual goal is to distribute the technology widely enough to allow the greatest amount of people access to the program.

Joel Dudley, director of the Next Generation Healthcare Institute at Mount Sinai, emphasized the program’s intended scale: “We envision a path where we have many many of these Lab100-type systems out in the world, but that they are all feeding into the same brain.”
