It’s a common misconception that humans’ genes are static, uninfluenced by environmental factors, lifestyle choices and social determinants of health (SDOH). Individuals’ genes can and do change in response to exterior stimuli.
The Healthy Nevada Project, a collaboration between the Desert Research Institute and the non-profit Renown Health system, has completed its first phase of genetic data collection in its study of how Nevada’s population is genetically impacted by lifestyle, environment and socioeconomic factors.
