Even as 20 state attorneys general press a federal lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) constitutionality, a new Kaiser Family Foundation survey has found that the law’s mandated coverage for pre-existing conditions remains strongly popular.
75% of Americans surveyed stated that they do not want Congress to reverse the ACA’s protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions, reported CNBC’s Amelia Lucas.
That support held even among surveyed voters who identified as Republican — 58% of them, as well as 57% of self-identifying independents, agreed with the 85% of Democrats who stated they support the law.
Among American healthcare consumers’ chief worries: high prescription drug prices, unexpected medical bills, and uncertainties about their or their loved ones’ coverage eligibilities should the ACA be overturned.
