Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee have announced a proposal that would cut back on Medicaid restrictions on paying for opioid treatment. The proposal would lift the ban and allow Medicaid to pay for treatment if that treatment is for substance abuse and lasts fewer than 90 days. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that a full repeal of restrictions would cost up to $60 billion over the next decade.
