An independent study commissioned by the Virtusa Corporation and conducted by Forrester Consulting reveals that while healthcare is a leader in digital maturity, the industry continues to lag behind others in consumer engagement. “Healthcare companies traditionally lag behind other industries in adopting business technologies that help with customer engagement,” the report said. “This is tied to intense regulatory requirements leading to a significant focus on security of customer data.”
Patient data security is incredibly important, but prioritizing innovation in that sector has left the entire industry lagging about a decade behind others in terms of outreach, the report highlighted. For value-based care success, healthcare leaders must catch up.
