Senate Health Committee Passes Opioid Bill

Earlier this week the Senate Health Committee voted unanimously to pass its bipartisan opioid legislation on to a floor vote. The bill includes 40+ proposals from 38 Democrat and Republican senators including regulating package sizing and research and development for non-addictive opioid replacements. “I wish we could have a single blockbuster idea that an agency here could deal with and solve the problem,” said Lamar Jackson (R-Tennessee). “What we can do is take a number of steps to create an environment so that everyone … can succeed in fighting the crisis community by community.”
