Specialty Practices Worry About 2018 Quality Measures

Despite many physicians viewing the transition to value-based care as beneficial, there is still hesitancy concerning 2018 quality measures, especially among independent specialty practices. Some critics have noted that the CMS’ applied benefits and penalties under the MIPS reporting track are not significant enough to encourage adherence. And smaller practices find the regulatory burden increasingly difficult to manage. The 2018 rule allows for smaller practices to collaborate in virtual groups to take part in MIPS quality measure reporting as a collective.
