A study released by the consumer credit improvement service WalletHub found that, for several key metrics — including cost, quality and access — Ohio and Kentucky rank in the middle-to-bottom third of states in providing healthcare to children.
Both states, for example, ranked poorly for childhood obesity rates and nutrition. In both states, out-of-pocket pediatric healthcare costs increased between 2012 and 2016. Overall, Kentucky ranked 28th and Ohio ranked 30th for children’s healthcare access.
