Imagine having crisis counseling at your fingertips in an emergency. Or, imagine being able to pull up a chat app and talk with a licensed psychiatrist when your normal practitioner’s office is closed. Ieso Digital, based in Cambridge, UK, hopes to bring just such capabilities to the US market and improve outcomes for a notably difficult-to-manage patient population.
A paper outlining the results of a joint University of Cambridge-King’s College London-Vanderbilt University study on the health outcomes and effectiveness of the company’s chat-based psychiatric telemedicine application is currently under peer review for publication.
The study reportedly showed that the application resulted in significantly improved mental health outcomes and higher engagement levels for patients who used Ieso digital therapy services, relative to patients who only received traditional, face-to-face therapy.
