Are virtual hospitals the way of the future? Utah’s Intermountain Healthcare thinks so. The Salt Lake City-based provider organization has launched Care Connect Pro, which groups Intermountain’s 35 extant telemedicine programs into one centralized, online care delivery system. Already, the system has helped to improve care for residents of rural communities that were previously underserved. The hospital group is considering future placement of virtual healthcare kiosks in non-traditional locations, including schools, jails and community centers.
